This past weekend, our community gathered at La Fab to celebrate the timeless beauty and heritage of the Du Moine River. The afternoon was filled with art, culture, and shared passion for protecting one of our region’s most cherished waterways.
Guests enjoyed a stunning exhibition of local art, each piece capturing the natural splendor of the river—from its quiet reflections to its untamed rapids. Alongside the visual experience, participants were immersed in stories of the Du Moine, tracing its history from the oral traditions of the First Nations to its central role during the era of forestry and logging. It was a rich reminder of how deeply the river is woven into both the natural and cultural heritage of the land.
The event would not have been possible without the dedication and collaboration of key organizations and individuals. Special thanks to CPAWS (Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society), the Friends of Du Moine, Riverkeepers Ottawa, and the many passionate volunteers who continue to lead efforts in education, awareness, and conservation. Their work safeguards not only the Du Moine River but the broader ecosystem that sustains us all.
Nature is precious, and every action matters. Whether through volunteering, advocacy, or simple everyday choices, each contribution strengthens our collective ability to preserve this vital watershed for generations to come.
